A legal review of this module was undertaken in October 2013, updated and published in February 2014.
Councils undertake enforcement roles under a wide range of statutes. They need to ensure that enforcement action is undertaken in a manner consistent with the relevant statute. This module is designed to help councils to manage the risks around enforcement action. It does not deal in detail with the requirements of specific regulatory regimes, but sets out the principles of effective enforcement action.
